French Green Clay
Purifying Mineral Clay
French Green Clay, also known as Illite clay, is a naturally occurring mineral clay sourced from ancient quarries in France. Its distinct green color comes from decomposed plant matter and iron oxides, giving it strong absorptive properties. Traditionally used in European spa treatments, this clay is valued for its ability to draw out impurities while supporting balanced skin.
Rich in magnesium, calcium, potassium, and silica, French Green Clay is especially beneficial for oily and congested skin types.
Skin Benefits
Absorbs excess oil and surface impurities
Helps refine the appearance of pores
Supports clearer-looking skin
Encourages smoother texture
Ideal for oily and acne-prone skin types
French Green Clay works by binding to dirt and excess sebum on the skin’s surface, helping to leave the complexion feeling refreshed and visibly clarified.
Hair & Scalp Benefits
Helps remove buildup from the scalp
Supports oil control for greasy roots
Can add volume and lift
Leaves hair feeling clean without harsh stripping
Because of its strong absorptive properties, French Green Clay is especially helpful for oily scalp conditions or product buildup.
How to Use
Mix 1–2 tablespoons with warm water, herbal tea, or pure aloe vera gel until a smooth paste forms. Apply to clean skin or damp hair. Leave on for 5–8 minutes (avoid letting it dry completely). Rinse thoroughly and follow with moisturizer or conditioner.
For hair treatments, may also be blended with aloe juice or a small amount of apple cider vinegar for added scalp support.
Important Notes & Warnings
For external use only
Avoid contact with eyes
Perform a patch test prior to first use
Not recommended for extremely dry or sensitive skin without added hydration
Do not allow clay to over-dry or crack tightly on the skin
Always follow with a hydrating oil or moisturizer to maintain skin balance.
